Spanish weather

It's unbelievable, but the weather is one of the most discussed topics during the day - especially that this winter is such an extraordinary cold winter ;-) Here is the weather forecast of two consecutive weeks (to remind you: it's february!!)

La Finca en el Campo

I spent a wonderful Spanish afternoon and evening together with a couple of exchange students and Spanish friends at the Finca of one of them.
It is located near Torremanzanas which is a little village one hour north west of Alicante - in the middle of nowhere, without cell phone coverage and electricity only for a couple of years.
We spent the whole day eating grilled meat, sitting in the sun, hiking in the surrounding mountains, singing and playing until late in the night.
On our way home we nearly killed a wild pig which was enjoying the moon in the middle of the street in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

Barcelona

24 hours in a city like Barcelona are definitely too little time - but first of all we didn't have another choice and second it is indeed enough time to experience the atmosphere and to decide to come back again.

From our very centrically located hostel we walked along "Las Ramblas", the most famous street in Barcelona

over the "Plaza Reial"

to the harbour and beach where we enjoyed the warm spring sun and the Mediterranean atmosphere.
After wonderful hours we wanted to see the famous fountains, but unfortunately they were under construction and shut off. But anyway, we enjoyed an impressive sunset from the hills of the Palacio Nacional.

Fruit Paradise

I LOVE FRUITS!
And Spain is definitely a better place than Boston or Germany to buy daily incredibly fresh and tasty fruits and vegetables for incredibly little money.
Mercado Central - my new paradise. Behind these walls you can find a large hall with at least 20 stands of fruits and vegetables. (besides fish and meat and flowers and and and)
YOUR CHOICE ;-)

No wonder that I replace at least one meal a day by fresh pineapple, oranges, mandarins, bananas, kiwi,......
